Charlton Harness Racing Club
Charlton Harness Club Races hosts approximately 20 Meetings a year (refer the Charlton HR Club web site for details). Charlton is the hub for this region's harness racing and the track has recently been upgraded to a 1 km status and boasts superb facilities for a rural course.
The Charlton Cup is the principal Harness Racing event for the Charlton Club. The meeting features entertainment, sponsors' tents and many other activities as well as the race meeting. A great day's entertainment.

Charlton Film Festival
Charlton Film Festival is held in the Rex Cinema on the third weekend of February. This is a two day event opening on Friday night with a feature film, supper and drinks. On the Saturday up to four more films are on show, depending on the length of the films. Supper is once again available after the evening feature. Lions Easter Market
This is an annual market held on Easter Monday at St. Joseph's School oval in High Street next to the Cricket Club Hotel. This market has grown in stature over the past few years and now boasts around 100 sites. Stallholders vary from year to year but include plants, clothes, garden requisites, tools and craft work. Rotary Arts Show
The Rotary Arts Show is held in the Charlton Shire Hall in Armstrong Street on the second weekend in October each year. This is a four day event. The Art Show has built up an excellent reputation for the quality of work exhibited; it attracts artists from all around Victoria. It offers several awards as incentives for artists. Lions Swap Meet
The Lions Swap Meet is held at Charlton Park (just inside the main gates) on the second Sunday in October. The meet is growing in stature and popularity with stallholders and buyers alike. Stalls include motor vehicle components, tools and some craft work. Open from 7.00am to 1.00pm. Admission is $2 (children free). Contact John O'Brien 03 54911712 or jbern@iinet.net.au.
A&P Society Annual Show
The A & P Society Annual Show, which has been running for over 120 years, is held in the third Saturday in October. A traditional rural community event, the Charlton Show features live bands as well as arts & crafts and produce displays. Side shows, rides and other special features are included in the show program each year. The show concludes with an excellent fireworks display.
Australia Day Celebrations
An annual event, organised by Cabbaritta - CWA Charlton Branch, commences with a community free breakfast cooked by the Lions Club members. This is followed by a formal ceremony which includes the announcement of the Citizen of the Year, the Young Citizen of the Year, the Community Exent of the Year and the Charlton Youth Volunteer Awards. The celebration concludes with a guest speaker.
Lions Auction
Sale of goods/bric-a-brac. A fund raising activity of the Charlton Lions and a service to the community in providing an opportunity for people to dispose of surplus items/materials.
Hospital Deb Ball
The debutante ball has its roots steeped in history where it traditionally represents an opportunity for the young ladies to "come out". Today it represents an opportunity for our young people to learn to dance and to make their debut in all their finery. It is a very popular event with the Charlton Youth, particularly the girls. The event has been organised by the East Wimmera Health Service - Friends of the Hospital - Charlton Auxiliary, for many years. Contact Val Bourke (03 54911418) for more details.
Anzac Day
An annual event which commences with a ceremony at the Cenotaph in High St followed by a march along High St to the Shire Hall in Armstrong St where a traditional service is held, featuring a guest speaker and the Wycheproof-Charlton Brass Band. Contact Ken Jones (03 54911853) for more details.
Lions Fishing Competition
A annual event conducted by the Charlton Lions Club as a fundraiser. The event has been operating approximately 20 years (formally run by the Charlton Apex Club) and is highly regarded by anglers from across the state. The event is held on the banks of the Avoca River which runs through the Charlton Township. See the Lion's page for contact details.
Carols by Candlelight
The Carols by Candlelight are organised by the Rotary Club of Charlton and include items from local school children, Wycheproof-Charlton Brass Band, a guest artist and a Christmas message. Contact Peter Milward for details (03 54911325 or pmilward@bigpond.com.
Christmas Fest / Shopping Promotion
An opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas. The event is now organised by the Charlton Chamber of Commerce and Industry and will incorporate the conclusion of their Charlton Shopping Promotion with excellent prizes to be won. Charlton Badminton Tournaments

The tournament commences on the Tuesday with a Ladies 4 ball event. Thursday is the Ladies Day tournament. Friday is the Men's 4 ball event. Saturday is Men's Day - 30 hole event.
