Charlton Arts Inc.

Description

Charlton Arts Inc is affiliated with Regional Arts Victoria (RAV) and is a registered ‘presenter' with RAV enabling us to take shows toured by them.

The main event organized by Charlton Arts is the Annual Film Festival held at the end of February each year. This event opens on Friday night with a film and supper. There are four more films on the Saturday, a light lunch and supper at the conclusion of the last film. The event has attracted audiences from across the State of Victoria and regularly receives accolades such as "A great weekend" ...,"we love the atmosphere of the cinema and the ambiance of the community" and "we will be back again next year".

Charlton Arts has been promoting music amongst Charlton Youth for a number of years by providing two Junior Scholarships valued at $50 and one Senior Scholarship valued at $200 for senior students. To enter the award process a student must be a resident of Charlton and attending Charlton College or St Joseph's Primary School. The Scholarships aim to create an interest in music and to assist the student to advance his/her musical ambitions.

From time to time Charlton Arts present touring shows in the Charlton community. This depends on the availability of shows and their price. For instance in 2008 we have held a 'Jazz at the Golf Club' night and a comedy/drama tour show titled ‘The first Step on the Tram is Hell'. In 2009 we will be bringing back world renowned pianist Roman Rudnytsky. Roman performed in Charlton in 2007 and was very well received by those who attended the performance.
